A longtime dream and a very good Old Fashioned.
Zack grew up in Vermont, where real maple syrup is a household essential, and the imitation stuff doesn’t make it past the front door. For years, he dreamed of starting a maple syrup business, sharing a taste of the place he calls home.
Then, in Colorado, he made Kaitlin his signature Vermont Old Fashioned sweetened with maple instead of sugar. Her verdict: the best she’d ever had.
That drink changed how we thought about maple. One simple ingredient made something familiar feel special, and it showed us how much more maple could do beyond the breakfast table. It belongs on pancakes, of course. It also belongs in a well-made cocktail, over roasted vegetables, in your morning coffee, whisked into a vinaigrette, or poured over vanilla ice cream. It’s a more interesting way to sweeten almost anything, and we started Lore to share all of those possibilities.
What’s in the bottle
We source our syrup from the woods of Northern Vermont. It’s small-batch, Grade A maple syrup with one ingredient: pure maple syrup. No additives. No preservatives. Just rich maple flavor, rooted in the place where Zack’s story began.
Why LORE?
Even if you’ve never been to Vermont, you probably have a picture of it: deep woods, brilliant fall leaves, and something sweet that comes from the trees. It sounds like folklore, but it’s real. We chose the name Lore to hold on to a little of that feeling.
Lore is about the things worth passing along: a recipe, a ritual, a taste of somewhere you love. Maple has always carried that for Zack, and it’s become part of how we cook and host together. So we gave it a bottle that matches what’s inside: nice enough to leave out, good enough to give, and meant to be used to the last drop.
We hope LORE inspires a little lore of your own. The brunch that becomes a tradition. The gift you’re remembered for. The drink that becomes your signature.
